How often do we speed through the parts we think we already know? I know I’m not the only one who does this.
I’m one of those who reads the Bible through, and when I’m finished, I start over. So there’s no telling how many times I’ve read this verse and didn’t see this.
We all know about the flood, right? It rained for forty days and nights and covered the earth in water. I think there’s even a children’s song about it.
Genesis 7:11 talks about this but it also says “the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up.” Water came up from the ground too! Why is that significant? It isn’t really. God could have just snapped his fingers and bam, water everywhere.
The point is, I’ve missed it for years. Most of us speed through life on autopilot, going through our routine just to say we did it. Same thing with reading the Bible sometimes. It’s time to slow down. Savor each part. Listen.

nice!
