At times I’ve wondered if God maybe took the wrong spouse. My husband was well loved by everyone who knew him, and I’m not. I have an INTJ personality type—the one usually depicted as the villain. Add in my C-PTSD, and things go from bad to worse. Of the two of us, I’d say the world needs more people like Tommy.
But God still has work for me to do.
Being a caregiver didn’t leave room for a job. I’ve been writing books for ten years now and still don’t make enough to live off of. I started praying for an income, begging God to guide me in the right direction. His answer is always, write more books. So, I’m still writing. I’m still feeding his sheep like He told me to ten years ago. Just like Ruth, I decided to follow him.
You’re probably thinking, Ruth followed Naomi, not God. But I argue that she was following God by following Naomi. God provided for her in a huge way because of it and He’s providing for me too.
When God asks you to do something that doesn’t make sense to you, what do you do? Do you trust that He has a plan for your life? Or do you do what makes sense to you? I can tell you from experience that you can never go wrong following God. You may find one day in the future that the thing He asked you to do made perfect sense in the larger scheme of things.
I wrote a study guide on the book of Ruth. You can find the link here-https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FN6B7YP1 This blog series will follow along with each section of the book. I plan to post every Monday. If you’d like a reminder, please sign up to receive notification.
