The Provision & Protection of Ruth
The most important part of the book of Ruth is often overlooked. It’s the part where Ruth tells Naomi your God will be my God. After the loss of her husband, Ruth chooses what some would consider to be the hard road. With very little to live on, she travels to a foreign land to live among people who consider her to be the enemy.
Yet because she chooses to follow God, Ruth is protected and provided for. She meets and marries the one God has in mind for her and as a result, her name is among those found in the lineage of Christ.
The Provision and Protection of Ruth takes a deeper look at the story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz with commentary from an author who knows what it’s like to lose a spouse. Historical context has been added to better understand what was happening at the time the story takes place. The discussion questions are designed for independent thinking. Additional verses are listed for further study.
